About the Artist and Author
Paula Billups is a visual artist and author who works and lives between Boston and Berlin. She holds a BFA in Painting from the Lyme Academy of Fine Art in Old Lyme, Connecticut and an MFA in Creative Practice from the Transart Institute in Berlin, Germany.
Ms. Billups' work is in numerous private and public collections in the United States and Europe. Most recently she has exhibited in Luxembourg, Berlin, and Quedlinburg, where she was artist in residence in 2014. She was the inaugural artist in residence at the Siena Art Institute in Italy. She has upcoming appearances and exhibitions this year in Toronto and Connecticut.
In 2013 she shifted her focus from painting to collage and palimpsest in response to discovering the beauty of ephemera and found paper, most especially in Berlin.
As avid a writer as she is a visual artist, Ms. Billups has begun to combine these strengths to create the works forthcoming at Dragon Food Press, starting with PAPER: A Tale of Berlin, her first art book, which shares reflections on her experiences living and working in Berlin through the fictitious adventures of a band of unusual urban archaeologists.
She frequently collaborates with other writers and artists to create joint projects.
She believes you should do what makes you truly happy to feed your inner dragon.
