Hi! I'm Paula Billups and this is the blog for my brand new imprint, Dragon Food Press.
I realized I needed an imprint when I completed PAPER: A Tale of Berlin and wanted to associate it with something special. PAPER is now released and is available for sale on Lulu (see the BOOKS page of this website for purchase.)
So why Dragon Food?
We all have something ferocious, creative, amazing, intense, incredible and profoundly beautiful about us, and it can be a lot even for us to handle, as well as other people. We sometimes find ourselves holding back or being less awesome, especially if it caused us trouble as kids. (How often were you awesome at something - knocking it out of the park on a school art project or paper and when you got recognition, you found yourself confronted with disgruntled peers who were mad at you for making them look bad? Happened to me.)
That awesome part of you that seems to have caused other people such discomfort (even though you were just being awesome and not doing anybody any harm) is the thing that will save you, your friends, your loved ones, and just maybe the world if you think about what that part of you is and wake it up and tell that dragon inside you it's okay to come out - the world needs your awesome.
The art, collaborations, articles, and books I write are there to feed my inner dragon and I hope it offers some food for your inner dragon too.
Dragon Food Press is a place to roar and remind you of your most amazing self. I won't get mad at you for making me look bad. I'll celebrate your awesome inner dragon and probably bake it cookies. I'm nice like that.
Thanks for visiting and feed your inner dragon!
